Ringo decided the only way to get some alone time with Maureen was to contact her at her job and ask her out. When he asked Maureen out for a date she was extremely excited and nervous at the same time. On the big day, some of her hairdresser friends sent her out shopping due to she was so excited she couldn’t work properly. When Maureen returned back to the salon, she could see Ringo’s Beatle boots under the registration door. Ringo had arrived early for their date and Maureen’s fellow hairdresser friends were flirting with him. Their first date was a long and an eventful date which consisted of strolling around in Liverpool’s parks, going to the movies, going to a concert of Frank Infield’s, and then going to a dance club called Blue Angel. At the end of their date, they walked together to The Cavern, which was where The Beatles were playing that night.
Maureen was frightened that the girls at The Cavern would find out she was dating Ringo. She knew the girls at The Cavern weren’t to fond knowing their idols had girlfriends, wives, etc, so when asked if she was Ringo’s girlfriend she would deny that she was dating The Beatles’ drummer. Most of the girls never believed her. In one incident, Maureen decided to walk outside of The Cavern early without Ringo and got into his car; a girl approached the car and asked her if she was Ringo’s girlfriend. Maureen once again denied it and told her that Ringo was a friend of her (fictional) brother. The girl knew Maureen was lying and began attacking Maureen with rage. Maureen frightened rolled up the window. Maureen ended up with a few scratches on her face from the angry girl.
